ABOUT US

In 2009 Jon's mom created an employment model to practice skills which her son Jon, pictured above in the red shirt, had mastered over the years.  Jon has a great personality, is happy, fun and loves being on the go.  He enjoys the outdoors tremendously.  Ensuring that a skill set is generalized and truly mastered means the skill can be done in a variety of settings.  It is critical to determine this to be successful.  Before long, Jon was on the road in and was quite successful.  At the same time, in his home setting, the development of leisure skills was playing a significant role in his life.

Jon had an uncanny attention to detail, working with his hands and enjoyed sensory based activities throughout his life.  The very first jewelry item he worked on were pins which he made for teachers and therapists for Valentine's Day.  His first "paper project" was a line of custom bags for a small business being run locally. And so, Jon had begun to build his own business on his strengths and his interests.  One thing his parents had always fought for was a truly "individualized" education and the battle that had gone on, on his behalf for so long, was paying off for him.

That was how "Yard" Work & More began.  The 5 young men pictured above are the current "core members" and are making their way into the community and creating change for other community members.
